Apres Ski (French for after ski) is a term used to describe the social activities, entertainment and nightlife that takes place specifically at ski resorts. After an intense day tackling the slopes, it’s almost mandatory to indulge in an evening of food and drink, music, partying and general merriment.
Many believe that the apres ski culture originates from Norway in the mid-1800s, where grog or aquavit was consumed among friends at skiers’ homes. Today, however, skiers are greeted with much more than a small gathering round a friend’s house – apres ski has scaled new heights! And it is seen as an important factor for skiers even long before they book their holidays.
In Verbier, the post-powder party is the ultimate way to round off a hard day skiing or snowboarding. Whether you want to go dancing in your apres ski boots, wrap up in furs by a cosy pub fire, sip champagne and eat caviar in a refined eating establishment, or stay up until 4 in the morning in your luxury Verbier chalet, there are plenty of options to suit your mood. We have compiled a list of some of our favourite apres ski activities, right here!
Visit a Verbier favourite, Pub Mont Fort
Pub Mont Fort is often very busy – a good indicator of its popularity! If you’re after tasty burgers, informal atmosphere and a reasonably priced happy hour, head up the hill to Pub Mont Fort. The staff are friendly and approachable, offering apres skiers a chilled and relaxed dining experience. It also has a large terraced area with plenty of fires to keep you warm. Fancy dress parties, sports on the big screen and BBQs in the summer are just some of the reasons why guests keep coming back for more.
Sip cocktails at La Farinet Lounge Bar
A great spot for cocktails, La Farinet is popular among apres skiers looking to stop off for an afternoon or party into the early hours of the morning. Complete with log fire and a live DJ playing until 2 am every night in the winter, this is a perfect venue for seasonaires, locals and holidaymakers alike. And if that doesn’t help you to decide to BOOK NOW, the bar has a sliding roof that opens when the party gets too hot! Give La Farinet a visit, because when was the last time to witnessed snow falling from an open roof whilst listening to an awesome Swedish cover band?!
