A Year in Verbier – Your Annual Guide to Verbier Seasonal Activities

8th February 2019

Whether you’re a keen skier or prefer to keep your feet steady on the ground, a trip to the Swiss Alps is perfect all year round, especially when staying in one of our beautiful Verbier seasonal rentals. Whatever the weather, there are plenty of activities to tempt everyone, at any age, both on and off-piste. So when you choose to visit this unique and completely diverse world-renowned ski resort, is completely up to you.

We are committed to bringing the best information and in-depth insights into the year’s events and activities in Verbier and Le Chable, so come and take a look at what 2019 has in store!

Paragliding in Verbier

January

This time of year is the height of ski season so be prepared for it to get busy on the slopes, but with chilly weather, blue skies and sunshine, there are some great skiing conditions to make the most of!

If skiing isn’t your thing, you could try snowshoeing as a great way to explore the mountains and their stunning views off-piste. In the evenings, opt to relax in our seasonal ski accommodation or hit the local bars for the apres ski parties.

February

February stays busy with the French school holidays but if you book early you’ll be just fine. Skiing conditions are also great at this time of year, but you could also try paragliding if you wanted to give the busy slopes a miss and have a chance to see Verbier from stunning new heights! This is the ultimate experience for panoramic bird’s eye views of the Four Valleys.

March

As Spring starts to make itself known, the weather starts to get warmer and dining alfresco at lunchtime is highly recommended!

In March, skiing is better in the morning as the snow is still compact and harder than the warmer afternoons where the powder starts to melt. Perhaps an off-piste hike would be a good skiing alternative for the afternoon?

Off-Piste Hiking

April

Despite the weather getting warmer, April is often the snowiest month – thanks to the spring showers bringing plenty of flurries of fresh snow. The quieter pistes make for great skiing and again, lunching outside is very popular. You could also try a guided walk on the mountainside, sledging, or even heli-skiing.

May/June

This is another quiet period in the year and is great for hiking and other outdoor activities as it doesn’t get too hot in the days. Perhaps you could try the walk over the Cabane FXB Panossière par La Maye for great views of the Glacier de Corbassirère. Or perhaps a local wine tasting is more up your street? Enjoy a guided tour of the winery in the local village of Saillon.

July/August

The busiest summer months are great for outdoor activities, especially hiking and paragliding due to the fine weather. You can also attend the Verbier Festival to get your fill of classical music on the mountainside.

Escape the crowds in the evenings and relax in a beautiful seasonal chalet as you watch the sunset.

September

September is when things start to get colder again, and it starts to get quieter on the slopes as the children go back to school. However, as with most European autumn periods, this is where the rain falls quite frequently too. For days where you don’t fancy skiing in the rain, you could try swimming in one of the resorts, attending a fitness class or having a treatment at a local spa:

La Cordée des Alpes

Offering a range of treatments and excellent amenities, La Cordée des Alpes provides the ultimate luxury spa experience in Verbier. Sink into the 15ft mosaic-tiled pool or relax in the sauna and let your stress melt away.

Les Bains de Lavey

Take a trip to Les Bains de Lavey to experience the incredible thermal baths, and why not get a treatment whilst you’re there? There is a huge range of massage treatment options, including Bamboo, Lava Shell and Shiatsu.

AWAY Spa

This contemporary spa is the most stylish way to unwind and recharge. Based in the heart of Verbier, the AWAY Spa offers guests a huge variety of treatments, including massage, facials and skin wraps. You could even try out a massage lesson to take the ultimate relaxation home with you.

October/November

This time of year is often the quietest in Verbier as the resorts are closed in preparation for the next ski season, so you’ll need to bear this in mind if you’re looking to ski at this time of year as a lot of the ski lifts will likely be closed. If you’re just looking to escape for a cosy winter getaway, be sure to relax in front of the beautiful mountain views in one of our seasonal chalets or apartments:

Chalet Wylie Coyote – Verbier
